How to Choose Pipe and Drape Stands

Pipe and drape stands create freestanding support for wedding backdrops, trade show displays, photo booths, stage areas, ceremony spaces and event entrances. The right frame should fit the finished display area, support the planned backdrop width and leave enough clearance for bases, crossbars and safe installation. Before ordering, measure the usable wall or floor area rather than relying only on the advertised venue dimensions.

Choose a frame size for the space

Start with the width and height you want guests or cameras to see, then allow room for the stand hardware. A compact frame is easier to position in a small room, while a wider system provides more visual coverage for stages, booths and venue walls.

  • 10x10ft: a practical size for photo booths, dessert tables, sweetheart tables, small ceremony corners and single backdrop displays.
  • 20x10ft: suitable for many wedding backdrops, party stages, brand walls and medium-size event installations.
